üks kirjutas:ALS is an interesting system.
Basically it takes the exaust valve of the engine and retards it, dumping raw fuel into teh exaust manifold, as it hits the hot manifold around the turbo, the fuel ignites, basically turning your exaust manifold into a combustion chamber to keep the turbo spooled and creating boost when the driver lifts. Or to creat boost when the car is at idle. WRC cars make around 6psi of boost at idle. So thats what ALS is in a nut shell.
The draw backs of it are EXTREME heat. The manifold usually needs to be heat treated, and ceramic coated. And your turbo should have a ceramic impeller, and ball bearings. If you dont have all of these, and ALS system will MELT your manifold, and your impeller. Not good.
Its preaty much usless for street use. And for dragracing its completely useless, becuase the time it takes to engage and disengage the system isnt worth it. Right off the line it would work well, but after that it would be preaty damn pointless, and may actually make the engine lag when it adjusts the cams phase.
Unless you have about 10 grand to dump into a complete exaust, and turbo kit...stick with a plain ole turbo kits and leave it at that. Unless your runing stage II turbo or higher, its not worth it.
Unless you know alot about turbo setups, you shouldent even consider it.
teine kirjutas:I think its more along the lines of this:
- when you lift off the throttle from acceleration, the ecu retards the timing by a large amount. During this, extra fuel is dumped in the chamber causing backfire moreless. This backfire is what keeps the turbo spooled up and not leaving it to spool down. Hence the system name "anti-lag" . It is not necessarly hard on the manifolds, but it is hard on the turbo lifespan because of the constant high temperatures that the anti-lag produces.
Anti-lag system does not involved adjusting cam-timing, just ignition timing. And it I don't think it makes any boost at idle(unless you are revving it) But I think you are confusing it with launch control system.
